I work from systems thinking to designed output. Strategy, facilitation, and visual communication in one practice.
I've always been drawn to complexity, not as a problem to be solved, but as a space where clarity, equity, and creativity can be co-created.
I'm Charlene Sequeira, a strategic designer, facilitator, and visual communicator with nearly two decades of practice across India, the GCC, and the United States. My journey began in commercial design and evolved into a purpose-driven practice, applying systems thinking and strategic design to catalyze transformation in the social impact, climate, and education sectors.
I notice what others miss. The quiet cue from someone at the back of the room. The connection between a client's coastal work and a corporation's stated vision playing on a screen in the waiting room. I use those observations to bring people into the conversation, point back to their lived experience, and design engagements that move from large objectives to grounded outcomes.
I see myself as a bridge between systems and stories, policy and practice, institutions and the people they serve. My clients leave with a visual system and narrative strategy that embodies their mission, vision, and values. My workshop participants leave with clarity, agency, new tools for navigating complexity, and what I call humble audacity to change the world.
I hold a project from the first workshop to the final designed artifact. Which means no gap between the thinking and the thing.
Currently available for design and communication commissions, facilitation partnerships, and strategic advisory either remote globally, or on-site in India.
"We were looking for someone who could think beyond aesthetics and truly design with people’s realities in mind. Charlene brought exactly that. In our work with remote coastal communities, her ability to bridge strategy and design helped us create solutions for Numer8 and Ofish that felt more human, intuitive, and grounded in the lives of the coastal communities we were building for."
Devleena Bhattacharjee, Founder & CEO at Numer8 Analytics
"It’s been a real pleasure working with Charlene. She brings a strong systems thinking mindset, connecting strategy, storytelling and design in a way that feels cohesive and well thought through. She has a unique ability to hold the bigger picture while translating complex ideas into communication that is clear, grounded and accessible, which has made a tangible difference to our work at INECC."
Myron Mendes, Executive Director at Indian Network on Ethics and Climate Change
"Working with Charlene was both inspiring and seamless as she brought clarity, sharp thinking, and a strong sense of direction to every project. She elevated both the creative and strategic output with her ability to connect bold ideas to real, impactful solutions."

"Working with Charlene at Center for Complexity was a truly collaborative and energising experience. She brings a thoughtful mix of facilitation, design research, and systems thinking, and consistently grounds ideas in real-world contexts. Charlene often pushed us to test design theories around systems thinking and institutional change against on-the-ground realities. This helped ensure our work moved beyond academic exploration toward practical, meaningful change.
What I especially value is her ability to translate insights into tangible prototypes and next steps. She creates inclusive spaces, brings clarity to complexity, and helps ideas grow into grounded, actionable directions. Charlene was a wonderful partner in our work and a real asset to Center for Complexity."
