Charlene Sequeira is a designer, strategist, and researcher. She started at RISD Center for Complexity as a Studio Lead for Strategic Programs, helping develop and facilitate Strategic Design workshops both in person in India as well as online. In her current capacity as Strategic Design Lead, she works on an array of projects in healthcare and the polycene that include workshop facilitation, visual design, design research, and pedagogical development.
Before RISD, she built over a decade of design expertise across UAE, Oman, India, and USA. She has worked in print and digital media, retail experience design, brand strategy, community engagement, social innovation, and education with a diverse portfolio of international clients. Charlene's work across cultures, industries, and design mediums brings openness and adaptability in her approach to systemic issues. She is drawn to amplifying the efforts of grassroots environmental and social impact organizations in India through facilitation, strategic design, and visual communication.
She holds a master’s degree in Communications Design from Pratt Institute, New York. Charlene’s ongoing design practice manifests at various intersections between design, education, and sustainability.

Licenses & Certifications
ATD Instructional Design Certificate | October 9 2023: Aligned to the Instructional Design Capability of the Talent Development Capability Model™, this instructional design certificate program provided participants with ATD-exclusive tools and templates and the opportunity to practice using them on a flexible, authentic learning project. Participants completed all participation requirements as well as a learning project to demonstrate skill in instructional design for face-to-face learning experiences.
Climate Change: The Science and Global Impact | August 15, 2020: This course offered by SDGAcademyX, an online learning initiative of SDG Academy teaches the basic scientific principles behind climate change and global warming. It introduces basic climate modeling and explores the impact of various greenhouse gas emissions scenarios. Finally, it outlines the impacts of climate change on social, economic, cultural, urban and human systems. Participants develop a deep scientific understanding of how the climate system has been changing, be able to articulate why the climate system is changing, and develop a systems thinking approach to analyzing the impacts of climate change on both natural and human systems.

Summer Design Studio on Education for Sustainability (EfS) by The Cloud Institute for Sustainability Education, New York, USA | August 2012: Cultivated the ability to design for (K-12) EfS standardized curriculum and assessment models using backward design and systems thinking in this in-person hands-on studio.
Sustainability Crash Course by The Center for Sustainable Design Studies, Pratt Institute, New York, USA | March 2012: Delivered a presentation on art activism and community engagement followed by a hands-on upcycling workshop.
